RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out the logging and analysis of drill core resulting from the drilling programs;
• Participates in the compilation of the drilling data analysis;
• Ensures that the drilling database is up-to-date;
• Ensures that the logging procedures are completed in accordance with established QA-QC policies.

• Has a degree in Geology and 1-3 years experience in exploration;
• Member (P.Geo.) or member-in-training (GIT) of the Association of Professional Geologists of Ontario or has the qualifications to become a member in the near future;
• Knowledge of ArcGIS is an asset.

Under the responsibility of the Senior Metallurgist, the plant metallurgist will support the production teams in achieving production quotas and optimizing the gold recovery process while minimizing the use of reactive agents. He will be responsible for projects aiming to improve operations and will participate in various projects focusing on mine development. He will participate in the problem solving of operational issues encountered at the plant, will offer technical support to metallurgical technicians, and participate in tests performed at the laboratory of metallurgy.

DUTIES

• Ensure monitoring of laboratory testing protocols;
• Keep track of metallurgical analysis data given to outside laboratories;
• Proactive in troubleshooting and finding solutions when faced with shut-downs;
• Participate in training and continuous improvement;
• Take an active role in the practical training program for operators and technicians in metallurgy;
• Operate in compliance with standards, laws and regulations;
• Follow procedures and established standards;
• Respect health and safety, and environment laws and standards.

REQUIREMENTS

• Hold a university degree in metallurgical engineering;
• Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec;
• Can work autonomously;
• Have the ability to work as a team and respect the rules set forth;
• Be active and engaged;
• Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
• Bilingual (an asset).

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Geologist is responsible for the execution of an aggressive resource definition program to industry best practice as directed. This position will be required to oversee the geological department in our town office as well as our exploration camp.

Responsibilities

• Will be responsible for designing and implementing a resource definition drill program to meet the requirements to bring the Hammond Reef resource to a measured category in preparation for feasibility;
• Will work independently and make decisions to ensure effective and efficient direction and delivery of the overall work program;
• Will ensure that the drill hole database meets industry standards for resource calculations;
• Will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the work program; ensuring the program is completed to schedule and budget;

• Will provide supervision and strong leadership to the geological and technical teams for both sites;
• Will implement industry best practices across all aspects of the work program, including Health and Safety and Environmental best practices;
• Will provide sound technical advice to management and other departments;
• Will report work progress and findings at a frequency defined by Senior Management;
• Will ensure positive interaction with all stakeholders including management, other project departments and the drill company contractors;
• Will participate in the hiring of personnel;
• Will conduct employee performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge and contributions of staff;
• Will ensure that all staff are conducting themselves in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will have a Degree in Geology; MSc (Geology) will be an advantage and 8+ years of previous exploration experience;
• Experience with multiple drill programs is required;
• Experience working with geological databases is essential;
• Experience with 3D Drill hole database management and GIS software;
• Knowledge of Gems and ArcView software is a strong asset;
• Progressive experience in all aspects of geology from early staged exploration through to mining in the gold industry;
• Experience with QA/QC, sampling practices, and analytical methods required;
• Member of a recognizable professional body such as APGO;
• High personal motivation and ability to motivate and develop others;
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings;
• Strong communication skills in both English and French or somebody who is willing to learn French;
• A valid driver’s license
